We have some very good news to share this month. We are delighted to announce that the Reverends Simon and Louise Moore have been appointed Priest in Charge and Associate Vicar for the Benefice. We are currently waiting for them to be licensed, which is due to take place on 13 July 2022. This husband and wife team are currently the Rectors and Deanery Leads for leadership and discipleship development in the parish of Sutton St. Helens in the Diocese of Liverpool.
They have previously worked in Hertfordshire. In addition to their roles at Sutton, Simon also works to encourage and train people in preaching and is training as a pastoral supervisor. Louise runs her own counselling and pastoral supervisor practice.
The move to our Benefice brings them nearer to their 3 daughters and one grandson. They both enjoy walking and will bring with them their two dogs Bo and Belle. We very much look forward to them arriving in our Benefice and welcoming them as they take up their leadership roles amongst us.
We are in the season of Lent with Passion Sunday being on 3rd April. You will see from our dates page that we have a number of special services around the Benefice as we move forward into Holy Week and Easter. To mention some - there is a United Benefice Service for Palm Sunday at Flitton - where we remember Jesus entering into Jerusalem on a donkey and being greeted with loud Hosannas. We have the quieter more reflective services including those on Maundy Thursday and and Easter Vigil. On Good Friday there will be our walk of witness starting on the Village Green followed by a service of reflection as we remember how Jesus was crucified and took on himself the sins of the world. That’s how much He loved us all.
We look forward to going through these times of reflection and preparation before we can gather in our lovely Churchyard at 7.30am on Easter morning to celebrate the fact that Jesus rose from the dead and is alive. You are very welcome to all these services. Please check times and places on the dates page.
We have an Easter Coffee morning on Saturday 9th April in the Church Hall - a good time to catch up with others, enjoy a coffee and cake and take part in Liz’s Quiz. These are lovely social events but also help the PCC raise money to help keep our lovely old building in good order and to maintain the churchyard which right now is so beautiful with the spring flowers. The funds also help pay for the running of our Parish.
The Church looks forward to being part of the celebrations in our Village for the Queens Jubilee and Linda Brown would love to hear from you if you have any photos or memorabilia for the display that will be in the church over the Jubilee weekend. Her details are in our contacts list.
We do hope that you will come along and join us at this special time of the year and really know the true blessings of this lent and Easter time.
