Welcome to the very first edition of “News from the Pews”. This is going to be a monthly newsletter from St. James and will be delivered to all the homes in Pulloxhill. It will contain lots of news and information about St. James Church - what has been taking place, news of events and services and details of the Services for the coming month. It will also contain details of contacts such as the Vicar and Ministry Team, the Wedding Coordinator, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) so that you have these to hand and can feel free to make contact with someone at the Church.
St. James has stood in the Village since at least the 13th Century and has been there throughout all the changes the Village has seen in this time. It stands in Church Road and everyone is welcome to come along to services and our events. We would love to see you at the Church or at the social or community events that take place in the Church Hall along the road. We are a growing Church and are led by our Vicar and Ministry Team. We hold a range of different Services over the course of each month ranging from the lovely quiet Evensong to our informal and welcoming Family Services. Thought the year we hold special services such as for Mothering Sunday and Remembrance. We will be featuring some of these in future editions of the Newsletter. We are part of a Benefice of three Churches so often do things with the Churches at Silsoe and Flitton.
We are delighted to have close links with Community Groups in the village and are pleased to host Concerts by the Pulloxhill Singers who help us raise funds to support our Church and its’ building. The Summer Concert is due on 31st May and we look forward to a variety of songs and to enjoy the refreshments provided by our Catering Group. Tickets are available ahead - see the advertisement in this edition - or on the door and cost £10 which includes light refreshments and a glass of wine. If you would like to be involved in catering at our events - maybe baking a cake or savouries, making sandwiches, helping on the day with setting up, serving or clearing up we would love to know - please contact Liz Shortland - her contact details are on the Dates and Contacts page.
In June we will be taking part in the Tree Festival - with trees in the Churchyard being decorated by Linda Brown and her Team - again if you would like to help she would love to hear from you. July will see our first Vintage Strawberry Tea - this will be a ticket only event due to space and so that we can make the tea a special afternoon - details in our next edition.
You can always find details of services and events on our webpage - www.3churches.uk and on www.achurchnearyou.com. Posters are also put up on our notice boards in the Church porch and Churchyard, and on blackboards around the Village. We would love to see more of you at Services and Events - it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours and find out about Church. Please do come along - we will do our very best to make you welcome.
